Leveraging the Power of Technology in the Shift to Value-Based Care

The accelerating growth of value-based financial and quality performance contracts has put the independent private practice of medicine at risk because of the massive administrative burden and significant financial investment in tools that often do not work as advertised. The contracts are a mix of fee-for-service medicine with a potential to earn what is usually a small financial benefit. Population health, actuarial and contracting expertise, data and analytics, and technology that puts information at the point of care is expensive and often out of the reach of small practices. This session will explore how technology, information at the point of care, and robust physician engagement and governance can make managing these complex issues in small practices possible. Attendees will learn strategies and tactics, gleaned from several years of successful participation in the MSSP program, to form an action plan for adapting to this new normal.
